Allergies

This product contains argan oil, a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree and is therefore classed as a tree nut.

Patch testing is advised the first time you use a new product, particularly if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies. Test a small area of skin (the inside of your elbow or inner arm for example) and observe for 24hrs to be sure there is no reaction before applying to your face.

Day or night – whatever suits your skin

This face oil is most often used in the evening as the final step after cleansing, providing all the nourishment and moisture your skin needs overnight. It can also be used in the morning as part of a simple, supportive skincare routine.

After cleansing, warm 3–5 drops between your palms and gently press or smooth onto your face and neck using upward motions. If you have oily or combination skin, you may prefer 1–2 drops. Very dry skin may need a little more. If the oil feels slow to absorb, try reducing the amount - a little goes a long way.

When used at night, no additional moisturiser is required.

Using face oil in the morning

If your skin is dry, mature, or feeling depleted, you may enjoy using this face oil in the morning too. During colder months, a drop can be mixed with your moisturiser in the palm of your hand for an extra boost of comfort.

Some drier skin types also like to use the oil as a make-up base. If doing so, apply 1–2 drops as the final step in your routine and allow it to absorb for around ten minutes before applying make-up.

A moment of ritual

Once applied, take a moment to inhale the natural aroma from your cupped hands. This simple pause can help turn your skincare routine into a calming, grounding ritual.

This oil is also well suited to facial massage, gua sha, or face yoga.

A few important notes

  • Avoid applying the oil around the eye area
  • Always introduce new products gradually, especially if your skin is sensitive

Do you apply face oil before or after moisturiser?

This is a question I’m often asked. Face oil is typically the last step in your skincare routine. If you use SPF, apply the oil just before it.

If you’re using water-based serums or moisturisers, apply these first, then finish with face oil. You can learn more about when to use a face oil in your skincare routine.

How to open the face oil bottle

The pipette cap is tamper-evident and child-resistant. To open, press the cap down firmly and twist to break the seal.

I chose this style of cap because it’s more secure for travel and helps prevent leaks - and it offers extra peace of mind around children.

Is this product pregnancy safe?

The essential oils used in this product are considered pregnancy safe.

As a general precaution, it’s best to avoid excessive essential oil exposure during the first trimester. After this, products containing pregnancy-safe essential oils can be used as part of your skincare routine.

Key ingredients

Jojoba oil

Jojoba is a well-balanced oil that closely mimics the skin’s natural sebum, helping to support hydration without clogging pores. It helps keep skin comfortable and balanced, making it a popular choice for sensitive, acne-prone, or easily irritated skin. I use organic jojoba oil as the base of this face oil, making up around 50% of the blend.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a naturally occurring antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental stressors while supporting hydration and skin comfort. It also helps maintain a smooth skin texture and supports the skin’s natural repair processes.

Raspberry seed oil

Raspberry seed oil is rich in plant sterols and omega-3 fatty acids, which help support the skin barrier and soothe the look of redness. Its antioxidant content helps protect the skin from everyday environmental exposure.

Pumpkin seed oil

Pumpkin seed oil is rich in essential fatty acids and naturally occurring zinc, which help support skin elasticity and overall skin health. It provides nourishment while helping the skin feel softer and more resilient.

Argan oil

Argan oil is rich in vitamin E and omega fatty acids, helping to nourish the skin and support softness and suppleness. It’s particularly well suited to dry, sensitive, or mature skin types.

Olive squalane

Squalane is a skin-identical ingredient that helps replenish moisture and support skin softness. As natural squalane levels decline with age, topical squalane helps maintain comfort, smoothness, and a healthy-looking complexion

How it works

Drop down arrow

A balanced face oil for a wide range of skin types

This face oil contains a carefully balanced blend of omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, chosen to support a wide range of skin types. I formulated it using organic plant oils that are lightweight, non-comedogenic (won’t block pores), and rich in naturally emollient properties, so skin feels nourished without heaviness or grease.

Support for sensitive and easily reactive skin

Omega fatty acids help support the skin barrier, which plays a key role in maintaining hydration and reducing sensitivity. When the barrier is well supported, skin is better able to retain moisture and feel calm and comfortable.

If you’d like to explore this further, I’ve written more about how to nurture and repair the skin barrier and why it’s so important for sensitive skin.

Well suited to acne-prone and rosacea-prone skin

This face oil is often chosen by customers with acne-prone or rosacea-prone skin because of its gentle, barrier-supporting formulation. The blend of plant oils - including jojoba, argan, raspberry, pumpkin, lavender, geranium, and frankincense - is selected for its soothing properties and ability to support skin balance.

By helping to calm visible redness, support the skin barrier, and keep skin comfortably hydrated, the formula can be a helpful addition to routines for skin that feels inflamed or easily unsettled.

I’ve written more about this approach in my guide to using face oils in a rosacea-prone skincare routine, where I explain why barrier support and gentle formulation matter so much for reactive skin.

This face oil has been recognised in the problem skin category at the Free From Skincare Awards, reflecting its suitability for sensitive and reactive skin types.

Age-supportive benefits

Well-hydrated skin naturally looks plumper and smoother. The plant oils in this blend are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from everyday environmental stressors.

As we age, our skin’s natural production of squalane declines, which can contribute to dryness. Adding squalane helps support softness, comfort, and skin elasticity, and may help soften the appearance of fine lines over time.

For more targeted age-supportive care, you may prefer Face Oil +, which has been formulated with mature skin in mind.

Essential oils, used thoughtfully

The essential oils in this blend are used at low levels and chosen for their gentle, supportive properties rather than intensity. Frankincense, lavender, geranium, and sweet orange contribute to the overall calming feel of the oil and support the skin as part of a carefully balanced formula.

Their role is to complement the plant oils — both in skin feel and in creating a comforting, aromatherapy-inspired ritual — rather than to overwhelm sensitive skin.

Aromatherapy benefits and scent

Drop down arrow

Many customers describe this face oil as a spa in a bottle — and it’s easy to understand why.

Its distinctive scent is a big part of what makes it so loved. Customers return again and again not only for how it supports their skin, but for the calming, uplifting sensory experience it brings to their daily routine.

The aromatherapy blend includes frankincense, lavender, geranium bourbon, and sweet orange essential oils. Together, they create a beautifully balanced fragrance that’s fruity, floral, herbal, balsamic, and softly citrus — layered, soothing, and gently uplifting.

  • Frankincense offers a grounding, centring aroma often associated with moments of stillness and reflection.
  • Lavender is widely loved for its calming, comforting scent and its ability to help unwind at the end of the day.
  • Geranium bourbon brings a soft floral warmth that feels balancing and steadying.
  • Sweet orange adds a light, fresh brightness that feels uplifting and gently energising.

This blend was chosen not just for how it smells — but for how it makes your skincare ritual feel.

Olive Squalane, found in our face oil, is nicknamed 'nature's facelift'. Studies have shown that it visibly reduces wrinkles by improving skin elasticity and hydration.

    Skincare tip

If you have dry or dehydrated skin, apply your face oil to damp skin. The oil will lock in the extra moisture, increasing hydration levels.

    Did you know?

Plant oils have different absorbency rates. A good face oil will be formulated with fast absorbing oils so that your skin won't feel greasy after application.
