Frequently Asked Questions
This is by far the question we get asked the most. We would love to be able to accept your empties back, but unfortunately it is not something that we are able to implement at this stage. To avoid bacterial contamination, bottles and jars returned to us would need to undergo extensive washing and drying to ensure they are dry and properly sanitised. As a small company, we are unable to invest in the equipment needed to implement this at this stage of our journey. We’re a company that is conscious of our environmental impact and we’re working to find ways to reduce our waste. We recently released a larger bottle size of our Facial Oil, and we now offer recyclable aluminium lids on our repeat orders.
Definitely not. Our Facial Oil is formulated with lightweight oils that are absorbed quickly, leaving no greasy residue. Don’t just take our word for it - read some of our 5-star reviews, many from customers with oily or combination skin.
All of the essential oils that we use in our products are pregnancy safe. However, it is advised that if you are in your first trimester that you should avoid essential oils completely, even pregnancy-safe ones. This is not to say that they will do any harm, more just that there hasn’t been enough research done on the subject. Our Mama Bare Belly Oil is fragrance free and has been formulated without the use of essential oils. Once you are past your first trimester, pregnancy-safe essential oils can be very beneficial in many ways and can be safely used.
We use recyclable glass bottles and jars for most of our products. Unfortunately, most lids that are available to purchase from our suppliers are not recyclable at this stage. However, the sustainable packaging industry is constantly evolving, and we will keep pushing forward with more sustainable packaging options as they become available to us. You can find details on recycling our packaging on each product page, under the ‘directions’ tab. We post your orders in plastic-free kraft Jiffy bags or FSC cardboard boxes, which are fully recyclable. The corn starch filler that protects your products is biodegradable and compostable.
Two of our products, our Cleansing Balm, and Lip Balm, contain beeswax and are therefore not suitable for vegans. The rest of our product range is suitable for vegans.
Yes, all of our products are certified cruelty-free by PETA.
No. Our products are completely free of palm oil and ingredients derived from palm oil. We are certified palm oil free by International Palm Oil Free Certification program.
Our products are not 100% organic. We support organic farming and use organic ingredients where possible, in fact most of our ingredients are certified organic. However, it is very difficult, if not impossible to find certain ingredients with an organic certification. We don’t want to limit ourselves as there are some fantastic non-certified ingredients with amazing skin benefits. To see which of our ingredients are organic, have a look at our A-Z ingredients list or under the ingredients tab on each product page.
We do not offer free samples as standard. As a small company, we’re unable to absorb the financial implication this would have. We also believe the extra packaging for sample-size products that may not be truly wanted or used would have a negative impact on our sustainability goals. Occasionally we have small amounts of product left over from a batch that we make into samples and send to our regular customers at our discretion. We know that if you have tricky skin, you might want to try out a new product before investing, which is why we introduced mini versions of our cleansing balm, facial oil and clay face masks. Just click the drop-down menu on the product pages to find the mini sized variants. Our minis bundle is also a great way to try a few different mini sized products.
We offer free Royal Mail 1st class postage within the UK on orders over £50.
We don’t offer free postage as standard. As a small business we simply can't afford to do this. The truth is, there isn’t such a thing as free postage and companies that offer this have usually included the postage costs into the price of their product. We prefer to be transparent, keep our product prices fair and only charge what the actual postage and packaging cost is for Royal Mail 1st class - we don’t make any profit on this, we promise!
We ship around the globe, except, unfortunately, to EU countries. It’s crazy that we cannot sell to our closest neighbours, but restrictions put on the cosmetics industry since Brexit has meant that we have had to temporarily halt selling to the EU. It is still possible but requires a financial investment, which is not something we are currently able to undertake but is something we plan to revisit in the future.
Currently, we have no physical stockists.
