Allergies
Patch testing is advised the first time you use a new product, particularly if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies. Test a small area of skin (the inside of your elbow or inner arm for example) and observe for 24hrs to be sure there is no reaction before applying generally.
How to use a cleansing balm
Firmly massage a small amount of balm onto your face and neck, concentrating on problem areas like dry patches and areas of congestion. The balm will turn into oil on contact with your skin and will dissolve make-up, dirt and oil, drawing it away from your skin. Use a damp warm face cloth or muslin cloth to gently wipe away the cleanser. It's best to wipe your skin twice to make sure all the balm has been removed.
For an even deeper cleanse, apply a hand-hot flannel to your face for 1-2 minutes before wiping away the cleanser. The steam will open up the pores and give your skin a ‘steam clean’. Lie down and relax for a couple of minutes while you do this!
Perfect as a one-step daily cleanser or as the second step in a double cleanse routine.
Can I use a cleansing balm every day?
Yes, I use my cleansing balm every day, whether I have worn make-up or not. It's the perfect daily cleanser to take the day off as it not only removes make-up, but dirt, pollution and sebum too.
Organic muslin cloths are perfect for removing the cleansing balm and are available as single cloths or as a bundle of three.

Key ingredients
Castor oil
Castor Oil is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and antiseptic. Natural astringent properties removes dead skin, dirt, oil, bacteria and other impurities from the skin pores.
Papaya seed oil
Papaya seed oil contains the fruit enzyme papain which is a natural exfoliator. It helps to break down and loosen dead skin cells and draws dirt from the pores. This helps to cleanse and brighten the skin and keep it looking fresh. Papaya seed oil is also great for oily skin and skin prone to acne as papain helps stops dead skin cells blocking pores. Papain is also known to help reduce scarring. The oil itself has a low comedogenic factor - which means it will not block pores. It has high levels of anti-inflammatories which help reduce redness and inflammation.
Mango butter
Softens, moisturises and improves the firmness of the skin. Nutrients nourish the skin. It has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties which help to heal and repair the skin barrier.
How it works
How a cleansing balm works
A cleansing balm is an oil cleanser in balm form. It works on the principle that oil attracts oil. This means that even those with oily and acne prone skin can benefit from using a cleansing balm. It will extract the excess oil and dirt, leaving your skin balanced, moisturised and non-greasy. Unlike harsher products, for example foaming cleansers, a cleansing balm cleanses without stripping away your skin’s natural oils.

Natural ingredients
This face cleansing balm contains a nurturing blend of apricot, coconut, castor and papaya oils. Castor oil, in particular, has natural cleansing and astringent properties that remove dead skin, dirt, oil, bacteria and other impurities from the skin pores. Apricot oil also dissolves dirt, oil and make-up when used as a cleanser.
Mango butter has emollient properties, making it a great skin softener.
Papaya seed oil contains the fruit enzyme papain, which is a completely natural chemical exfoliant that gently dissolves dead skin cells and leaves the skin bright and fresh.
Coconut oil, castor oil and mango butter have antibacterial properties, helping to kill acne-forming bacteria. Apricot oil, papaya oil and mango butter have anti-inflammatory properties, soothing inflammation and reducing redness in rosacea and acne prone skin.
Cleanser for dry and sensitive skin
Cleansing balms are perfect for dry and sensitive skin. Unlike cleansers containing harsh surfactants, for example most foaming cleansers, cleansing balms cleanse gently and leave the skin barrier intact. Our skin barrier plays an important role in skin health and a disrupted skin barrier can lead to sensitivity. Read more about the importance of the skin barrier.
Cleanser for rosacea
A good rosacea skin care routine starts with cleansing. It’s important to protect your skin barrier by using cleansers made with gentle natural ingredients that won’t compromise or disrupt your skin barrier, but can actually help to strengthen it. A healthy skin barrier helps to protect the skin from environmental triggers that can cause inflammation and irritation in rosacea. It is also responsible for preventing loss of moisture, maintaining skin hydration levels - also an important factor in compromised skin.
Gentle make-up remover
Cleansing balms effortlessly dissolve make-up. This gentle yet effective approach is perfect for tackling heavy makeup and stubborn waterproof mascara, outshining traditional makeup wipes.
Essential oil skin benefits
The essential oils used have more than an aromatherapy function, they are aromaceuticals that have an effect on the skin too:
Lavender is anti-inflammatory, and also has antiseptic and healing properties. It’s renowned for its ability to help skin problems.
Palmarosa helps to balance dry, oily and combination skin types. Studies show that it has the potential to be an effective antioxidant in acne management.
