Allergies

This product contains argan oil, a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree and is therefore classed as a tree nut.

Patch testing is advised the first time you use a new product, particularly if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies. Test a small area of skin (the inside of your elbow or inner arm for example) and observe for 24hrs to be sure there is no reaction before applying to your face.

The perfect choice… day or night

Whilst our natural face oil is primarily a night face oil, used after cleansing to provide all the moisture your skin needs, you can also use it to kick-start your day as part of your morning moisturising routine.

After cleansing, apply approximately 3-5drops onto the palm of your hands and then gently pat (or smooth in an upwards motion) onto your face and neck. If you have oily or combination skin you may only need 1-2 drops. If you feel that the oil doesn't absorb quickly it may be that you have applied too many drops and all you need to do is reduce the amount. If you have very dry skin you may need a drop more. Try different amounts and see what your skin likes.

If using the face oil at night, no night moisturiser is required. Our oil is nourishing and moisturising enough to use on its own.

If you have dry or mature skin you might like to also include our face oil in your morning skincare ritual. For winter skin-care add a drop to your moisturiser for an extra moisture boost. Simply mix them together it in the palm of your hand before application. Drier skin types can also benefit from using our face oil as a make-up primer. If using it in this way, apply a drop or two as the last step in your morning ritual and then wait ten minutes before applying your make-up.

Maximise the therapeutic qualities of the essential oils by inhaling the aroma from your cupped hand once you have applied the oil to your face. Inhaling the essential oils in this way can bring about feelings of relaxation.

Avoid applying our face oil around the eyes.

Do you put a face oil on before or after a moisturiser?

This is a question I often get asked. A face oil should always be the last step in your skincare routine, unless you are using SPF in which case it will be your second last step. If you are using water based serums or moisturises as well as a face oil, apply the face oil afterwards. Find out more about when to you a face oil in your skincare routine.

How to open the face oil bottle

The face oil pipette caps are tamper evident. To open, the seal needs to be broken by pushing the spinner down and twisting. The cap is also child resistant, perfect for ensuring your product is kept safe around children. Although these pipette caps can be a little tricky to open, I made the decision to switch from standard pipette caps as they are far more secure. I found out that with the standard ones our customers often had problems with the bottle leaking when travelling and a fair few distraught moments when kids got into them and spilled an almost new bottle!

Suits combination, dry, sensitive, acne-prone, peri-menopause, menopausal and mature skins. Rosacea-friendly and anti-ageing.

Key ingredients

Raspberry seed oil

Raspberry seed oil has high levels of plant sterols and omega 3 fatty acids which soothe redness and inflammation. Antioxidants protect the skin from environmental damage.

Jojoba seed oil

Jojoba is a fantastic oil for the face as it balances the skin's own oil production and helps keep skin hydrated by forming a thin protective layer and preventing moisture loss.

It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, ideal for inflamed and acne-prone skin.

Pumpkin seed oil

Pumpkin seed oil is a great anti-ageing oil. Naturally high zinc levels help keep skin feeling firm. Vitamin E protects the skin and anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness and irritation. Omega fatty acids ensure that skin stays well hydrated and moisturised.

Argan oil

Argan oil is a popular oil for the face as it is rich in protective vitamin E and moisturising omega fatty acids. Anti-inflammatory properties help reduce inflammation and skin redness.

Olive squalane

Our body produces small amounts of squalane but as we age this production reduces significantly - contributing to dry skin. Squalane benefits include moisturising the skin and softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It helps keep skin firm and may help protect the skin from age spots caused by the sun. Has anti-bacterial properties.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E oil is a powerful antioxidant that combats UV-induced skin damage, boosts hydration, smoothens skin texture, reduces inflammation, stimulates cell regeneration, and accelerates wound healing.

How it works

Drop down arrow

What makes a good face oil?

The face oil contains a balanced blend of omega 3,6 and 9 omega fatty acids, providing benefits for all skin types. I've formulated this face oil using organic plant oils that have emollient and moisturising properties, but are lightweight and non-comedogenic (won't block pores). Oils rich in omega fatty acids make the skin feel smooth, soft and deeply moisturised without feeling greasy.

Anti ageing face oil

Hydrated skin will look plumper, and fine lines will look softer. The oils are rich in the antioxidant vitamin E which protects the skin from environmental damage. Our body produces small amounts of squalane but as we age this production reduces significantly - contributing to dry skin. The addition of squalane moisturises the skin, softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It helps keep skin firm and may help protect the skin from age spots caused by the sun.

Face oil for dry and sensitive skin

Omega fatty acids strengthen the skin barrier, reducing sensitivity and helping to prevent moisture loss – locking in moisture and keeping the skin feeling hydrated.  Read more in the blog about the importance nurturing and repairing your skin barrier.

Face oil for rosacea and acne prone skin

This face oil is particularly effective for problem skin, especially skin prone to acne and rosacea. The combination of seven anti-inflammatory oils (jojoba, argan, raspberry, pumpkin, lavender, geranium and frankincense) work in synergy to give a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, soothing inflammation and skin redness. This soothing effect, plus anti-bacterial and skin barrier repair properties, helps to reduce the severity of acne breakouts.

Essential oils for the face

The essential oils used have more than an aromatherapy function, they are aromaceuticals that have an effect on the skin too:

Frankincense essential oil is known as an anti-ageing essential oil as it has a rejuvenating effect on mature skin. It’s also great for acne prone skin as it has antiseptic properties that help kill acne-forming bacteria. Its anti-inflammatory properties are soothing and help to reduce skin redness. It’s wound healing properties help to reduce redness prevent and fade scars.

Lavender is well known as one of the best oils for skin problems like acne and eczema. It has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and wound healing properties.

Geranium’s astringent properties make skin less oily. It’s also antiseptic and anti-inflammatory and can help skin problems like acne, eczema and skin redness.

Sweet orange is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and has antioxidant properties, making it great for oily and acne prone skin. Studies how that citrus essential oils may provide multiple benefits for acne management.

Ingredient spotlight

Olive Squalane, found in our face oil, is nicknamed 'nature's facelift'. Studies have shown that it visibly reduces wrinkles by improving skin elasticity and hydration.

Skincare tip

If you have dry or dehydrated skin, apply your face oil to damp skin. The oil will lock in the extra moisture, increasing hydration levels.

Did you know?

Plant oils have different absorbency rates. A good face oil will be formulated with fast absorbing oils so that your skin won't feel greasy after application.
