Shea butter is one of the best choices for dry, irritated skin. It has soothing anti-inflammatory properties and helps to restore a damaged skin barrier, reducing moisture loss from the skin.

Sea buckthorn extract

Sea Buckthorn Berries are one of the richest plant sources of rare omega 7 fatty acid. They also have high levels of carotenoids (which the body converts into vitamin A) vitamin E and plant sterols. This cocktail of nutrients have properties particularly useful in delaying the signs of ageing. They help protect skin from environmental damage and photo-ageing. Increased collagen production results in skin feeling more elastic and firm. Anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties help soothe and heal inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema.

What is body butter?

Body butters are a blend of natural butters and oils, and usually contain no water. These ingredients make body butter thicker and more concentrated than a body lotion.

Body butter for dry skin

This body butter contains shea butter, coconut oil and sweet almond oil, which contain omega fatty acids that strengthen the skin barrier, preventing moisture from escaping from the skin. They also help to smooth the surface of the skin, leaving it feeling soft.

Sea buckthorn has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and wound healing properties, making it a hero ingredient in the care of sun-burned or eczema prone skin.

The essential oils I’ve chosen have more than an aromatherapy function, they are aromaceuticals that have an effect on the skin too. Neroli and sweet orange essential oils have anti-bacterial properties. Neroli also has wound healing properties, making it beneficial in helping to fade scars and stretch marks.

This 100% natural body butter contains no water or fillers, meaning you only need to use a little to get great results. It’s a pampering treat for your skin after a bath or shower.

How to use body butter

Apply a small amount and smooth it onto your arms and legs. It melts into an oil on skin contact. Best applied on slightly damp skin after a bath or shower to lock in moisture.

Try it after shaving your legs to help prevent itchiness.

It’s a perfect after-sun as the hero ingredient sea buckthorn helps to repair sun damaged skin.

Try applying it to your hands before bed for lovely soft skin in the morning.

Scented with a blend of neroli and sweet orange essential oils. You will smell light floral and sweet, citrus notes.

Neroli essential oil has antidepressant and sedative properties. Combined with uplifting sweet orange essential oil, this scent blend has calming qualities and can help lift your mood. It makes me smile every time I use it : )

None of the ingredients are listed on the IUCN's endangered species list. This means the product does not contain ingredients that harm endangered species or their habitats.

Organic farming practices are more sustainable for the environment as it uses less energy and has lower emissions. I use organic ingredients when possible. This product contains 81% organic ingredients.

The shea butter used in this product is certified fairtrade and produced by the Akoma Cooperative Multipurpose Society, anon-government organisation established to help members of the village of Pusu-Namogoin Ghana.

The packaging is fully recyclable.

Allergies

Contains shea butter and could have a cross over with latex allergies.

Patch testing is advised the first time you use a new product, particularly if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies. Test a small area of skin (the inside of your elbow or inner arm for example) and observe for 24 hrs to be sure there is no reaction before applying generally.

Storage

The high quality blue glass jar will help to protect the oils from UV light deterioration, however it is advisable to store away from heat and sunlight to further extend the shelf life.

If the product is left in direct sunlight for a period of time it may melt. It will firm up again and have the same results but will have lost its whipped butter consistency.

Do not allow water to enter the product - use dry fingers to remove the product from the jar.

Packaging

This product is packaged in 60ml and 200ml cobalt blue glass jars with aluminium lids. 

Recycling

The glass jars can be recycled. The aluminium lids are fully recyclable.
