Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! You can return your empty jars (excluding face oil bottles, unfortunately) to be sanitised and reused. Once you’ve collected seven empty glass jars, send them back to me and you’ll receive a £5 discount code for your next order as a thank you. If you’re returning the larger Body Crème jars, I’m happy to accept five instead, as they’re much heavier. For full details on what can be returned and how to package your jars safely, visit the Return Your Empty Jars page.

Yes — all essential oils used in Amaranthine products are considered pregnancy safe. That said, it’s generally recommended to avoid essential oils during the first trimester as a precaution, due to limited research during early pregnancy. For those wanting to avoid essential oils entirely, Mama Bare Belly Oil is completely fragrance-free and formulated without essential oils, making it suitable from the very beginning of pregnancy. After the first trimester, many people feel comfortable using products containing pregnancy-safe essential oils as part of their self-care routine.
Many Amaranthine products are suitable for rosacea-prone and sensitive skin. While most of the range wasn’t created specifically for rosacea, the formulas are made with gentle, barrier-supportive and anti-inflammatory ingredients that help calm and comfort reactive skin. Mini sizes are available for several products if you’d prefer a simple, low-pressure way to see what works best for your skin.
Yes — most Amaranthine products are packaged in recyclable glass jars and bottles, and several products are available in refillable formats to help reduce packaging waste. While a few components, such as some lids and pumps, aren’t currently recyclable due to supplier limitations, I’m always looking for more sustainable alternatives as they become available. You’ll find specific recycling information for each product under the “Storage, packaging & recycling” section on its product page. Orders are shipped in plastic-free kraft mailers or FSC-certified cardboard boxes, with biodegradable corn starch packing filler that can be composted at home.
Most of the Amaranthine range is vegan-friendly. The only exceptions are the Cleansing Balm and Lip Balm, which contain beeswax. All other products are completely free from animal-derived ingredients.
Yes, all products are certified cruelty-free by PETA.
No. All products are completely free of palm oil and ingredients derived from palm oil. Amaranthine is certified palm oil free by International Palm Oil Free Certification program.
Amaranthine products are not 100% organic, but I support organic farming and use certified organic ingredients wherever possible. In fact, many of the ingredients I use are organic. However, some natural ingredients simply aren’t available with organic certification. To see which ingredients are organic, check the full ingredients list on each product page – organic ingredients are clearly marked with an asterisk (*).
I don’t offer free samples as standard. As a small business, it simply isn’t sustainable for me to absorb the cost long term, and I’m also mindful of unnecessary packaging waste. Occasionally, I do have small amounts of leftover product from a batch, which I sometimes hand-fill into samples for regular customers. If you have sensitive or reactive skin and would prefer to try products before investing in full sizes, mini versions of the cleansing balm, face oil, and clay face masks are available using the drop-down menu on each product page. The Skincare Set is also a lovely way to explore several mini versions at once.
Yes — I offer free Royal Mail 48 Tracked delivery within the UK on orders over £50. As a small business, I’m not always able to absorb shipping costs in the same way larger companies can, so I prefer to keep product prices fair and charge close to the actual cost of postage where possible.
It genuinely breaks my heart that I can’t currently ship to the EU. Unfortunately, post-Brexit cosmetics regulations have made selling to EU countries extremely complex and costly for very small businesses like mine. I absolutely hope to revisit this in the future.
I completely understand that international shipping can feel expensive, and I'm sorry it adds so much to the cost of your order.
As a small independent business based in Scotland, I don't have access to the heavily discounted shipping rates available to large retailers. The shipping charge reflects the actual cost of sending your parcel, and I don't make any profit from it.
All USA orders are sent using a tracked service, so you can follow your parcel throughout its journey and have peace of mind that it arrives safely.
Recent changes to US import regulations also mean that tariffs and import charges must now be paid in advance at checkout. While this increases the upfront cost, the benefit is that there are no additional fees to pay when your order arrives.
I know this isn't ideal, and I wish international shipping could be cheaper. Shipping often becomes better value when multiple items are ordered together, as the postage cost usually increases far less than the value of the products in the parcel. If you have any questions about shipping costs before placing an order, please feel free to get in touch. I'm always happy to help.
I have no physical stockists at the moment.
If your order hasn’t arrived, please email me at sarah@amaranthinebeauty.com, so I can investigate and rectify the situation.
I want you to be completely happy with your purchase. If your item arrives damaged, faulty, or isn’t quite right, please email me at sarah@amaranthinebeauty.com within 14 days of receiving your order.Due to the nature of handmade skincare products, I’m not able to accept returns in all circumstances — but please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to chat and will do my best to find a solution where possible.
Some countries may charge customs duties or import taxes when your order arrives. These charges are set by your country’s customs office and are the customer’s responsibility. Unfortunately, I’m not able to predict or cover these fees, so it’s always worth checking your country’s import rules before placing an order. The exception is the USA, where customs duties are included in the shipping cost and paid before the parcel enters the country.
